happy dawgs

there's been lots o' dog fun around hodge podge farm in the past month or so... i finally got to have a photo shoot with the gorgeous Oona, elyse's pup. she was a perfect model and entertained us with all of her cool tricks between shots. so now these are posted in the shop...

we made a custom fleece sweater for the lovely Lucy, above left, and gertie also made her modelling debut in the shop...

...and gertie had a long-overdue play-date with her supermodel sister Molasses. unfortunately they were having so much fun i couldn't catch them in a still moment the entire time, hence the 'ghost dog' pics!

finished objects

in january, i finally FINISHED some lurking projects, for myself to wear, like another Built by You tunic (simplicity 3964), my first with sleeves! i am loving this thing and have barely taken it off since completion. i also added my new favorite detail: cutaway pockets. every garment should have them, really... also, i remembered a very useful item that i have had since college, but completely forgotten about: my TRIPOD!!! no more one-armed mirror pics!

this is my other new fave outfit! kim and i developed this cozy sweatshirt tunic idea one sunday afternoon (i made her one too, while she re-organized my studio/living room). i had been needing something i could wear over my gym clothes when i go to the Y, and then proceed directly to brunch and not look like such a complete dork. i mean, i am always a dork, but gym clothes make me feel extra dorky....

oh yeah, and i finished my Built by You corduroy PANTS!!! (simplicity 4110) this is really exciting. i've actually even worn them several times. crazy.

this is one of the new style of tops i made for fall, with different printed yokes (hard to see in this photo, but the yoke is a woven floral-print wool). there are two longer ones in my etsy shop right now, should your interest be piqued...

more crochet hats, and we're starting to transition into spring with some long-sleeved t-shirts...

keep checking in, more one-of-a-kind pieces coming all the time!

pricked @ MAD

tonight i finally made it up to the Museum of Arts and Design for the show Pricked: Extreme Embroidery. i found the show incredibly inspiring... especially these three artists' work:

maira kalman, whose lovely embroidered pieces i had seen online but never in person...

andrea dezso, who i just figured out i once knew when i had my shop! her mini samplers of her mother's imaginative warnings transfixed both me and george...

...and orly cogan, who stitches poetically innocent yet pornographic fantastical images onto vintage tablecloths and bedspreads.
